Losing 30 Pounds in a Year

One thing that made me feel successful was when I lost 30 pounds in a year.

To provide some background, I was always overweight. I started by being a chubby kid, then an overweight student. College only exasperated the problem with me gaining the freshman 15.

My habits were extremely unhealthy. I am probably one of the most athletically challenged person you will meet. I never had a gym membership or went to the gym, even when my college charged me for their gym membership. In college, my maximum 5-minute commute from my dorm to the study hall or class was my daily exercise. My eating habits matched my laziness; my dinners usually consisted of a plate of mozzarella sticks or some 2 minute ramen.

It’s now apparently obvious how I got to my overweight situation.

My senior year of college rolled in, and I hated how I looked. I hated that I was always. I just hated how I felt about myself.

That year, I found myself with some more time on my hands because of a lighter course load. So, I went to the gym one day and tried the stationary bike. I pedaled the stationary bike for about 20 minutes. Something changed that day. For some reason, stepping into the gym that one day and trying the bike was the confidence I needed that I can do this, and…
